The Arts@BSM initiative is a dynamic and inclusive program designed to foster community connections through diverse artistic and cultural events. Since its launch, the initiative has offered a variety of activities that appeal to a broad audience. These include art and craft workshops that inspire creativity and choral workshops during Covid-19 that led to the establishment of the St Mary's Festival Singers, who now perform at all major civic events in Banbury.
Under the guidance of Dylan McCaig, our Director of Music, we've also introduced Banbury Organ Day and the inaugural Banbury Early Music Day, which has since evolved into the Banbury Early Music Festival.
In addition to these, the program features a regular poetry group and workshops in partnership with St Mary's Primary School, nurturing a love for the arts among young students. "Meet the Author" events, the annual Jigsaw Festival, two craft fairs and "Creating Space" mornings designed for relaxation and creative reflection, further enrich our cultural offerings.
The Arts@BSM Team also plays a key role in supporting events when St Mary's serves as a concert venue, proudly collaborating with organisations like the Banbury Choral Society, Banbury Symphony Orchestra, and Banbury Rotary Club for their performances. These events not only showcase the artistic talent within Banbury but also create a welcoming environment for community members to connect, learn, and grow together.
